You lowered your own price of something you wanted to sell because it went from rare to scarce? The book is just a guideline for pricing and numbers aren't set in stone, if someone wants a card bad enough they will pay whatever price in order to get it. I have seen and have listed myself very rare cards that I worked my tail off to get for only $3 in the price guide--these cards will probably never be found again and it's a shame they don't get their "due day" because of a listed price. There are little hole in the wall casinos near me that buyers in the west have no clue about, just as I have no idea about a lot of the cards out west. Guides should just be that..guides...not numbers set in stone. Why can't there be "ranges" for cards instead of exact values? A rare card at one casino is $150, but at another casino on the other side of the country a rare card is only $50. I don't understand why when a card is listed for a $50 value that nobody will bid over $50. If there was a range on cards, wouldn't it make the card collecting hobby a little more exciting? and I would think that not having to actually value and rate each and every card would be a whole lot easier for the authors/creators. There are cards in the guide that have been the exact same price and rating for many years--the rare card that was $250 ten years ago is still the same--shouldn't it go up in value? $1 common cards are still common cards----and lately we are seeing new buyers/sellers on Ebay everyday...some of the "common" cards are not common to them. I don't want to tick anybody off with this post---it's just my opinion (and actually a few others that I have spoken to). I'm sure it's very tough to make a price guide and I appreciate all of the work that goes into it, thank you. I'm also seeing a lot of past collectors selling their collections, could this be the reason? There's just not as much interest in the hobby any longer because the "values" never increase? I don't know...I guess I am just wondering what everybody else thinks about this?
