Has anyone been to the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, lately? I ask because I found this room key, off-property (but here in Las Vegas) that reflects a complete change-out of door locks and reader from mag-stripe technology to proximity "load" (RF-ID) technology. This is a big undertaking, as the MGM Grand has a lot of hotel rooms, and loads of other doors that would likely get the same change outs.

The PVC card probably has the prox load, but it could be in the attached sticker that has the instructions printed on it.

Just thought this was an interesting new development. Over on ChipGuide, there are no keys that with proximity loads.
