Slot Card Guide Survey

I've already made a bunch of changes to the slot card price guide that will appear in the next edition when it's ready for distribution. The biggest change is the addition of the ChipGuide CG#s assigned to each slot card as it was entered on the ChipGuide. Those CG#s are also hot links from the Microsoft Word electronic copy of the guide that will bring up the scans of the front and back of the corresponding card when clicked. The casino name likewise is a hot link that will bring up the corresponding listing for all the info on the ChipGuide for that casino. Plus the State, Province or Country are hot links that will display the list of all the casinos documented on the ChipGuide. I've also moved all the Canadian cards to a separate section, with all the Canadian cards listed alphabetically by Province. And there's a lot more reorganization throughout the guide as we tried to get the Slot Card Guide and the ChipGuide slot card information in sync. I think the resulting changes will make everything much easier to use once everyone gets used to the changes.

The reason for this posting is that I'm looking for comments and feedback regarding additional changes I'm considering...

It's been suggested that the guide would be much easier to use if it was reorganized and just simply listed all the casinos together alphabetically by state. That would mean merging land based, river boats, Indians, card rooms and racetrack casinos all together. The line between racetracks, Indians, etc. is getting fuzzier and fuzzier these days so I'm not so sure it makes sense to keep them separated any more. It would certainly make it much easier to maintain and update going forward. And I think I agree it would make things much easier to use. I could still indicate what type of casino each is in the guide like they do on the ChipGuide so the information would still be there.

The other change would entail going to an entirely electronic distribution with no more printed books but more about that after I iron out some details on how it might work. With all the added hot links, the electronic copy is many times more useful than the original paper copy. What I'm thinking is that I could still provide the Adobe Acrobat files so that if anyone still wanted a printed copy they could get their own printed at their local Staples, etc. The guide is growing and getting larger all the time so printing costs are going up and it's been getting harder to predict how many copies were needed for each release.

So comments are welcome and more information will following in the coming months. In the mean time I'll try to get posting info on all the new submissions as I've been doing.
