of the final bid as the Final Selling Fee and they also charge 9% on shipping. So as I see it, it doesn't make much difference if you add the cost of shipping into the price of your item and offer free shipping - ebay is gonna get their 9%.
And then of course, you have to add on the 1.9% to 3.9% (total invoice which includes shipping) + 30 cents for the PayPal fee. They've got you coming and going.
So even if it only costs 44 cents to mail 1 key, if you want to recoup your fees by adding them in the shipping cost, then you need to charge about $1 for shipping.
If you're shipping only 1 key, you should be able to do that from your house and not make a trip to the post office (saves a little gas). Anymore, I only go to the post office when I have international or flat rate priority mail - all others are sent from home. I don't do postage online, but I believe it saves a little if you do.
BTW, one website I looked at recently only charged about 7 cents per small padded envelope but you had to buy a quantity of 250. I have a problem storing the 15 USPS padded mailers, let alone a big box of 250 padded envelopes. Before long, I won't be able to get my feet under my desk.
