Hello, my Name is Rick Pokracki (LM 3113-84) Most people know me as Riverboat Rick on the Chipboard and throughout the hobby in general.
I am running for the position of Secretary of the Casino Chip and Gaming Token Collectors Club ( CC>CC ) and I need your support.
While I have always tried to help out through volunteering, at the convention and other places, I now want to step up my volunteering service by serving the club membership as Secretary.
As a lifetime member of the CC>CC, I have been awarded my 10 year pin and eagerly await my 15 year pin. I am a member of the CC>CC planning committee, a contributor to the CC>CC magazine, CC&TN, one of the administrators for The Chip Guide, a member of the Slab Free Club, and a charter member of the slot card club. Some other facts about me are, I am a member of the Chicagoland Chipper Steering Committee, and a past member of the Silver Strike Club. In addition, I would like people to know I support the Museum of Gaming History ( MOGH ) and what they are trying to accomplish.
I have a tremendous respect for the people in this club and love how everyone helps each other out without looking for accolades or payment in return, other than to perhaps pay it forward.
I have had people I have never met help me out. My daughter has received fun gifts and get well wishes and presents from club members we have never met. This is the part of the hobby I want to continue and also to grow, and its the caring for and supporting of fellow members, that makes us different from others.
I understand one of the largest problems our club faces is growth, this important issue needs immediate attention. I believe we need to first identify the problem(s), find solutions, and then fix those problems, as quickly as possible. For example, working with the membership officer, to try and regain past members, or at least find out why they don't return. I know the issue has been presented in the past, but I feel we need to remain focused on it and the future.
When I am not chip collecting, I work for a fortune 500 company in a unique position. It is one that requires honesty, integrity, organizational and prioritizing skills, along with a steadfast attitude. These I plan on bringing to the position of Club Secretary.
Also at work, I'm on a few different committees and have a reputation for following through on company inspections and other important matters , and as Club Secretary I will continue to do the same.
It may be of interest, that other than being a convention volunteer I hold no other official club titles, so all my time, effort, and energies can and will, be focused upon the Club Secretary position.
I believe we need to implement the ideas of others and that the club needs a growing membership and the their dues to survive. We also need to show people what we love about this hobby; that it is all about fun and volunteering and the good people who help one another. I respectfully ask you to cast your vote in my favor to provide me with the opportunity to serve you and this wonderful Club.
Respectfully,
Riverboat Rick Pokracki
