Temporary cards
In Response To: HARVEYS KC tempy card? ()

Not sure what you mean by "Harveys KC" -- the card you show is the type 6 white in the Guide under Harvey's, Central City, Colorado. It is easy to identify due to the pair of manufacturer's marks on the back. DLR CP in the upper right, Faraday in the lower left. There are two types of "temporary cards" that come up in collecting. On the one hand, you have cards which are never meant to be issued with the player's name and account number and usually have a number and have printed in the text on the back that they are a temporary card for the use of people who do not have an account yet. Sometimes they say they are good for 30 or 60 days or such. These are similar to what some casinos call bus cards. On the other hand, many casinos do not have a specially designed card for this use, but they do have the regular card in their system issued with "temp card" or "guest" or some such designation pre-printed on it, and when a group of people arrive (usually a bus load) instead of asking them to stand in line for their cards, they just give each one one of these "temp cards." Players are supposed to use the "temp card" and come back to the slot card booth later (when there isn't a line) and get a card issued in their name, with any points they had earned on the temp being transfered over to their new account. The Harveys card you show is a pure temp card, but Pat forgot to mention that in the Guide. Of course, she doesn't have the room to include everything, so you have to come here to the World Wide Web to complete your education in the fine art of Slot card Identification!
