I really think this is a very important topic to discuss on how to archive historic documents. Just like chips, these are bits of casino history that we want to see around 50 – 100 years from now. The more we know how to care for our plastic cards, the better the chance they will be in the hands of the “caretakers” long after we are done with them.
This topic has been a very healthy discussion of what might happen to our cards if they are not maintained properly.
I wished that my fellow collectors would had told me how to care for my cards before I trashed my original slot club cards in the early to mid 90’s (I would carry my cards in my pocket every day while I was in Vegas and my wife punched holes in every card she had so they would fit on a key ring all the same way)
It will be interesting to see how our cards look 20 – 30 years from now. Will it matter if someone used archival methods of storing vs. placing the cards in an old shoe box?
If I had thousands of dollars tied up in my collection, I personally would want to research the best way to possible to store my collection.
