Here’s my advice
In Response To: Re: The Reverse Sides-Scott ()

Here’s my advice (I have only been collecting plastic cards (credit cards, phone cards, gift cards, and slot club cards) for over 10 years). I also have talked to many dealers/collectors in other plastic card collecting industries.

1. Keep cards out of direct sunlight (the sun’s rays will break down the plastic over time)

2. Don’t store you cards in paper envelopes (I have seen cards left in paper envelopes and the cards will start to yellow at a very rapid rate.

3. Baseball card boxes don’t make the best storage containers (once again cardboard will leech acid and cause cards to yellow. If you do store your extras in baseball card boxes, keep the box open.

4. Don’t store cards next to other plastics (for some reason certain plastics can react to other plastics (I had a cup full of casino pens and a slot club card in with them, the card became brittle and broke apart, that was the first time I ever saw this happen)

5. Try to control the climate where you cards are stored. (excessive heat and humidity will have affects on your cards (this will more affect on paper laminate cards).

6. Finally don’t be cheap on collecting supplies. If you buy the cheapest products (card pages and sleeves) you might be damaging you cards. UltraPro used to make Phonecard pages, if you find them (good luck) they make to best storage for lower end cards.

For the higher end cards I would recommend SAFE Telecard Pages and SAFE Telecard Album. Theses are the best collecting supplies that money can buy. Here’s the link below.

Jim and others, I hope this is helpful.

Mike, could we have an area (maybe in Slot Club University) where we could make a recommendation to collectors on storage and archiving Slot Club Cards.
