The Slot Card BBS Archive 01

Carnival Cruise Lines / Ocean Player's Club card.

Scanned below is a blank Carnival Cruise Lines "Sail and Sign" card. These cards are used as cabin (room) keys and as a debit card while on a cruise. It gets imprinted with the users name, identification number, ship name and dining room location.

Over the past several years it has also been used as a slot club card on-board Carnival Cruise Lines ships. Carnival's on-board casino operations operate under the name of Ocean Player's Club and they have their own distinctive logo. However, their logo does not appear on the Sail and Sign cards, yet the slot machines recognize the registered guest using the card.

You can use your card to accumulate points on the slot machines and then sign up for Ocean Player's Club membership at anytime during the cruise. The points you earn are converted to cash, but you can only redeem them (for the cash) on your next cruise. However, if you accumulate enough points during the current cruise, you can be awarded prizes (a hat, a tote, etc.). Cash only happens on the next cruise.

I would have to think that these Carnival Cruise Lines "Sail and Sign" cards are both room keys and slot club cards by our definitions. Making them a collectible within our framework.

Yes? No? Comments....

My post below this is to show the reverse side.

Thanks for looking,
