Your mother sounds a lot like my mother. She convinced me that I should attend summer school to take a typing class before I "officially" started high school. As much as I hated the idea at the time, it did turn out to be very helpful. We had a few more than just two boys in the class (if I was going, I was going to convince all of my friends...or at least their mothers...that they should attend as well).

If only I had been born a decade later, I could have enjoyed my summer off and used "Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing" on a PC. Oh well
