I got burned in a couple of my last RR's also. One went out with 150 different cards and came back with 145 cards of which 25 were dupes!
At least 3 times, the P.O. put a sticker on the PRIORITY Envelope stating: "BY SURFACE ONLY"; one link took 3 weeks to go across the country.
Two times a player sent the RR back to me instead to the next person on the list! Then, I had to repackage it and then remail it.
Most of the problems seem to come from participants not understanding the "rules". Of course, there are some who are greedy and take advantage thus spoiling it for the rest of us.
We, as RR hosts should make sure that the "rules" are simple and posted on the boards as well as included in the RRs. We should also be aware of possible "cheats" and not include "suspected persons" in the next RR.
Anyway, the vast majority of collectors are honest and generous. In the long run I make out on the RRs and will continue to initiate them.
Besides, we are all gamblers and should expect each RR or other trade to be a "crapshoot" and be ready to accept our losses.
