Quite a few casinos are reluctant to give out room keys upon request because some of the hotels station security guards at the hotel elevators and you must show a room key to get past the guard. At Borgata, there is a sitting room located right off the casino floor (called the Living Room) and you need to show the guard a room key to get in. There have been instances where a would-be criminal would show a room key to get past the guard and follow a casino patron to his room ... and as soon as the patron opened his hotel room door, the assailant would push his victim throught the door and rob/assault them inside.
