Jerry, I have harvested cards from the tops of machines while security watches, no problem - they really could care less. I have taken cards from machines, only when no one is around, and if a person says that's my card I get on them for leaving it there trying to get un-earned points, and that's the end of that conversation.
As for the printing on the backside of the card, that's for thier protection, what do they care that a card has left. As for chips, there are signs posted on casino walls that state "...it's prohibited to remove chips from the casino property...", except in the case of small casinos who buy low quantities, most casino find that your removing the $$$ chips (not NCV's) is a free interest loan.
Putting slot cards, room keys, chips, etc. on E-Bay, The Chip Board, Jackpot Auctions, etc. is free advertising for the card/chip issuer, they love it, just look at the what it does for sales of chips that more than likely will never return.
The only casinos that I find are un-friendly are the Indian Casinos - blank cards, extra cards, forget about it.
