One of the major Wisconsin Indian casinos is the Oneida complex in Green Bay. It consists of two large buildings (the "old" casino, which is with the bingo hall, and the "new" casino, a half block west which connects to the Radisson Hotel. Either half would be bigger than most of the other indian casinos in Wisconsin. It is located by an urban area and not far from a major north-south highway which has always meant it pulled in people - and money - without too much trouble. The cards have several historical eras. They started with the silver and gold Preferred Player Club, with the "Preferred Player" in block letters. I also recall at that time I saw a poster at the slot card booth that showed three levels of cards - a silver, a gold and a multi-colored hologram type. I don't know if the last type was a super high roller card, but I have never seen one or heard of anyone who has. In the mid-late '90s they switched to a new card that had the "Preferred Player" in script letters. I don't think they ever had a gold card with the script. They may have discontinued the high roller program with the new card or just kept using the old gold cards. About January of 2000 they started to plan to switch their machines from punch card readers to magnetic readers, and they put out their new card program, the Oneida Fun Club. These had magnetic strips and were punched also for double duty. In my last trip to Oneda a week ago, I find they have stopped putting the punches in the cards since all the punch card readers have been phased out. I don't know if we should consider the type three (Fun Club) cards as being two types, with and without the punches. Since I have both, in my collection, I will.
Finally, a little surprise I got on that last trip to Oneida. I have been up there over fifty times in the last six years, and I walked in last week to see a sign that informed players that the "Bingo Players Cards" would be discontinued starting the previous week and bingo players would now use the same Fun Club card as the slot players. I said to myself, "What bingo cards!!!???" It turned out I never picked up they had a different card for those people. I asked at the slot card booth if I could get one. The lady pulled one out of the trash, showed it to me, but said she could not give it out. But I could probably get a blank one at the bingo card booth if they have any left. I go there and I see a half a box of them behind the counter, out of reach and nobody in the booth. I am told the person in charge of those is not there until monday, and nobody else has a key. I go back to the slot card booth, tell my sad tale to a different fellow, who pulls one out of the trash and gives it to me. I show it off below.
I have a number of the Fun Club cards (punched and unpunched versions) for trade, as well as a couple of the silver Type 2 cards. I do not have any bingo cards to trade, don't ask. I will be looking into getting more, but don't get your hopes up.
