Looking for HONEST input! (a little long...)

Looking for honest feedback on something that has crossed my mind lately, and please give it some real thought before posting (not that you guys post w/o thinking, just that I'd like some honest answers).

When I first began posting to these boards about a year ago, my intention was to help the collectors find out about cards, etc., that were out there to collect (I began posting older stuff that wasn't "listed".) This blossomed into some type of "new release notification" about once a week. Now, I post scans of new cards sometimes before they even ship!

However, I think this may be spoiling the fun for some collectors. I know the thrill of finding a new item for the first time for something that I collect (I collect 1:64 scale Dodge Vipers). Sometimes it seems like I'm the first one in the world to post online about these new Viper "discoveries" on the diecast boards. I am curious if my postings here are robbing the card collectors of the "rush" of obtaining and reporting a new card to the hobby?!

On a minor note, I received an anonymous email (coward) claiming that because I post ACC's work, I am limiting the $ potential of the cards because they aren't construed as "rare" as they may actually be. This person points out some prices in the 3rd ed. that they feel are very low for high-end cards. This person even goes as far to comment:

"It is obvious that Pat & Steve give lower values to new ACC cards than to other manufacturer's cards or unmarked cards because of your photos. It makes it appear that they are all commons."

To that person (since I can't reply directly) - I suggest that if you have price guide issues, take them up with the editors in a constructive manner - show them evidence of sales at the prices you claim, give them comparative examples (ie. this card was produced in smaller quantities than type B, etc.). While my postings may affect initial perception of "rarity", time will eventually tell when they don't show up in the market. Our primary goal is to provide a service and product to the casinos, not to support the value of your collection.

(stepping off of soapbox)

Anyways, back to the original point of this post. Would you guys rather know what is being released? Or would you prefer the "thrill of the hunt"? Doesn't matter either way with me, so fire away!
