SLOT CARD UNIVERSITY - STICKERS

With this installment of Slot Card University, I will cover a different subject for SC collectors. That is the field of stickers. At first in my collecting, I pretty much ignored the little sticky buggers, but as I organized my cards and my extras, I saw the variety of looks in the sticker area, and decided to include samples in my collection as I ran across them. I added varied Stations cards with the different "VI$" stickers in red, blue, yellow and green. The Sam's Town "Young at Heart," the Evansville, IN Casino Azatar "Club 55," the Regent and Resort at Summerlin silver "$$" and the Dubuque, IA Diamond Joe "55& More" stickers were additional ones that were to designate senior citizen status for the cardholder. This is the most common type of card sticker. I have different types of cards from Suncoast (and they exist for the other Coast casinos) with a "KJUL VIP" sticker for a radio contest, and the Silverton card I have covers a third of the front with both a senior sticker and a "Silverton Special" sticker. A Suncoast card I have has the "KJUL VIP" sticker and another one that says "2001/2002 Bowlers Club." The Riverside in Laughlin has cards with a "Local Prider" sticker on the back which are used for discounts at Laughlin locations. The new card I got in Mesquite at the Casablanca has a "VIP Elite Expires 6-30-02" sticker that probably shows a high roller status. They will be using this sticker until they get high-roller cards, as they always used to have basic (orange) and high-roller (gold) cards. One noteable sticker variety is the "CASH TIME" sticker card from the Frontier in Las Vegas. The Frontier had been using a white punchhole-type card with "Gold Rush Slot Club" printed in the upper right quarter. When the casino changed ownership, one thing the new management decided to do was revamp the player's club. They started using the same cards with a colorful red-yellow-green sticker over the upper right carner that said "Frontier Cash Time." After a short time, these were replaced with full color cards with the same design spread over more of the card front. And that just is the most obvious example of a rule of stickers. They may be a protent of a new type of card to come. Many locations that had stickers to designate senior status now have a different type of card with the seniors note as part of it. The "55+" cards in all levels of play at the Stations Casinos and the "50 plus Club" at the Trump Taj Mahal are perfect examples of this.
