I question the need for a "chapter". I asked 3 of the past/present Board members of CC>CC why the PACK was not allowed to have a club table at the convention. They each told me (in somewhat "scripted" responses) that in order to have a "club" table, you had to be a chapter. I then reminded them that, although WE (CC>CC) are not a chapter of the ANA, WE (CC>CC) still have a club membership table at almost every ANA convention. I was told that was different. This sounds more like "Do as I say, not as I do."
I, personally, don't think we need a "chapter". We have PACK and MSOCK, with quite a few collectors being members of both. With the addition of another "chapter", many collectors would be paying dues to 5 organizations:
1. CC>CC
2. PACK
3. MSOCK
4. Card/Key "chapter"
5. Local chapter (ie, Great Lakes; Ohio Valley; Southern California; etc.)
Do we really need another expense? I was also told the we "needed" the CC>CC for the "international" exposure. If you check previous posts on this very BBS, you will see posts from collectors in CANADA, ENGLAND, SPAIN, PORTUGAL, PERU, etc. If this isn't international, then I don't know what is!
I think that Pat (PACK) and Don (MSOCK) are doing a great service to the collectors without the added burden of chapter duties, rules and responsibilities.
Thank you for your kind attention. The above post is NOT a paid, political announcement. It is just my humble opinion. You may now return to your previously interuppted BBS.
