Ok, I am back home for a week. Let me tell you about Deadwood. Out first stop was First Gold. This casino has put in readers now, and will be getting new cards in a couple weeks. The pretty gold cards they had used before (with raised printing-not embossing) are no longer issued. We had a tough time getting one for us. Tears help, but I hate to see a grown cowboy cry (Daryl) don't you?? Seriously, Daryl had a LONG talk with the manager. We did get one. Now we need to go back next month. From there we went to Cadilac Jack's. This is a large casino. They will give you ONE slot card only, because they were having people ask others to play on their card for them. They didn't care when I told them I played 2 machines. They also have pretty room keys. From there we went to the 4 Aces, and also got one card each. We asked for a second, and they gave us a blank white one with our name on it in magic marker. Hours later, we told them we lost the original colored card, and again, were handed a blank white card. The gold card from this casino isn't the ACC, but the lower level is. We did get the paper card from Hickoks, but they write down your life history in a notebook, and then hand you ONE card. These are used and stamped for coin buy-in. They are stamped only one time daily, and after going back several days, they give you a $10 roll of coins. The Franklin Hotel has plans for new cards, and tokens sometime in June. We did go to the Silverado, and I got the card (ACC) for seniors!! Hey, they gave Daryl the regular one with his name on it. Now is that fair? Actually, I was glad I got the senior card, as now we have both of them in our collection. We did go to the Wild West and get the "picture" benni card. They are so nice in there. Mineral Palce embosser wasn't working, so we got a blank from there. Tin Lizzie had a nasty casino worker, as I asked for the cards for my 2 kids. That didn't work, as she said they were discounts for the restaurant, and kids couldn't be with us in the casino. I explained that I was with my husband, and asked for 2 for us---telling her we would use them in the restaurant, and she'd get them right back. (now remember this is a lie---I'd run to the door and hope she didn't catch me! Ha!) Again this didn't work, as the meal that day was free to gamblers. I told her the truth...what else could I do? This woman was the slot card handler from hell! Nope---she wouldn't give me the card, unless we would come back on another day to eat, other than this free lunch. She said I could get one Monday. By now I was at my wits end, and running out of excuses. I went outside to meet Daryl, only finding they had locked the gate of the parking lot, and we were trapped. Well, he went in to get the bartender to let down the gate so we could be on our way. So to make a long story short, we made it back home from the snow and fog, with a few goodies in our pockets. Pat
PS--I have matches for those who wanted them, and tokens for those who also asked us to pick them up. Tom, I have a business card for you from Cadilac Jack. Oh God it's good to be home!! (and warm again)
