The other night I stopped by the Casino of the Sun and Casino Del Sol to acquire their new cards. While at the "Sun" I asked why they needed new cards. I was told that they ran out and it was a re-order. They also said that they ran out because slot club employees at "Del Sol" were dipping into the "Sun's" supply of cards and didn't tell them they took that last ones.
So, the "Sun" is using the newest cards and "Del Sol" is using the remaining supply of older cards (but not the oldest ones).
While at the "Sun" I asked if they had any temporary cards left (no logo but with a border) and I was told that they used them all. All that was left were temporary cards printed with customer names, but that the customers failed to pick them up, or cards that had been turned-in to Lost and Found.
I asked for them, but they said no, and went on to explain that such cards only hang around for 24 hours. At the end of that time they are cut in half and thrown away!
They have a very effective policy of picking up misplaced (or left-behind) cards, as there has only been one time that I retrieved a card left in a machine.
Anyway, the point is, keep your older versions as there is a built-in destruction process.
Regards, Jim
