Now that I am in "The know" of who you are all talking about, I will express an opinion.
I also know the person, have dealt with him and have been more than satisfied in the past. Problem is, I don't keep up records very well anymore ( quite a statement for a CPA to make) so I really can't say if I'm owed money or not. In general, I find all of our members so honest, that I just assume everything is Ok and if it is not, the amount is usually so small that for me its not worth mentioning.
But I can certainly understand the concern of the people involved. Having met this person a couple of times (once at the convention and again at Rene's gathering) I tend to believe that he is not purposely trying a scam. I hope I am correct in this assessment.
The only big complaint I have to make, is one that no seller will agree with and that is this person tends to overpay for our cards. He has no sense of what a card is worth and tends to bid up or pay a high price for these cards. (I hope he is reading this message and take some advice from it.) Why should this bother me? Because by his overpaying for many of these common cards, others try to get the same price for a 'what should be a $1.00 or $2.00 card at the most.' Maybe if he offered the "right" price, he would be able to pay for them *g*
I find Pat's price guide to be quite fair. I just wish people would stick to it. For those that don't have one, most of the cards are "valued" at $1.00, some others at $2.00 and then, of course, the rarest of them command a higher price. But by seeing some of the prices ask for and paid for on e-bay, one would think were talking about two different items.
Back to the original problem, I don't think this person wants to be blacklisted. He is too involved in this hobby to let a few dollars stand in his way of having so much fun. I wouldn't particularly like to see his name published, but then again, we must protect all of the others against future transaction.
Bottom line is I don't have a solution. Maybe it is a time we form a subchapter of the CC>CC so that an ethics committee can take care of the situation.
