New casino will hold grand opening. A public grand opening will run today for the Reno area's newest casino.

The $16 million Tamarack Junction Casino and Restaurant, which plans to cater to locals, actually opened Wednesday on South Virginia
Street in south Reno.

It features a 190-slot casino, sports books, restaurant, lounge and outdoor dining patio on a 14-acre site where the old Tamarack Bar was located.

The casino is co-owned by Eldorado Resorts LLC, which owns the Eldorado Hotel & Casino in downtown Reno.
