Sorry Vic, but most respectful collectors would not make a deal that was that far out of balance.Having dabbled in antiques and in coins I sold to dealers and collectors who offered me a fair price.I then would go back to them with other items with confidence.If coin dealers took unfair advantage over customers their reputations would be shot.You sound like someone who would offer $1.50 for a $1500 item.
Yes, everyone should take the time to learn a little something about what they are trading or selling,that is their responsibility.But it is hard to know all markets so one seeks out those he can trust to get a fair deal.
I just hope MOST collectors are as I know them,honest and willing to help and teach.
